Gifted and Talented students in grades K-5 will have the opportunity to receive accelerated instruction in a self contained pull out program. Once a week during the designated pull out time, students will have opportunities for independent study, productive thinking, communication, decision making, and research. |
1st - 5th Grades GIFTED AND TALENTED NOMINATION PARENT MEETING March 21st - Parent Informational Meeting (Copeland Elementary School - Room 319 6:00 - 6:30) There will be a parent informational meeting on March 21st from 6:00 - 6:30 on the CES/ HIS campus in room 319. The testing process will be discussed as well as how students are identified as gifted and talented. Students who qualify for gifted and talented services will begin the REACH Gifted and Talented program during the 2013 - 2014 school year. Gifted and Talented Program Pullout Plan Gifted and talented students in grades K-5 will have the opportunity to receive differentiated instruction in a self contained pullout program. Once a week, the identified gifted and talented students are grouped together by grade level through a pullout program. During the designated pullout time students will have opportunities for independent study, productive thinking, critical/creative thinking, communication, decision making, and research. Curricular Classes GT Delivery Plan Gifted and talented students in grades K-5 will have differentiated instruction in the regular classroom in the areas of reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies. Emphasis is placed on developing and improving higher-level thinking skills, creativity, and problem solving. Emphasis is placed on working cooperatively with others and developing the social skills necessary for daily living. Gifted and talented students are heterogeneously grouped within the grade level. Teachers who provide instruction and services that are a part of the program for gifted students have a minimum of 30 hours of staff development that includes nature and needs of gifted/talented students, assessing student needs, and curriculum and instruction for gifted students. |

GT Pullout Teacher My name is Paige McEachern and I am the gifted and talented REACH teacher for kindergarten - fifth grades. This is my twentieth year of teaching and my ninth year of working as the lead teacher for gifted and talented. I am a huge supporter of the high school falcons! My husband, Mike is the athletic director and head football coach. My oldest daughter Kelsie, plays volleyball, basketball, softball, and track for the varsity falcons. My youngest daughter Kylie, is in fifth grade and plays volleyball. As you can see, my family loves sports and the outdoors. |
