District of Innovation Plan

During the last legislative session, House Bill 1842 was passed, giving school districts in Texas the opportunity to become a “District of Innovation.” A District of Innovation is a school district that is seeking more local control to pursue specific innovations in curriculum, instruction, governance, parent and community involvement, the school calendar, or other ideas. Becoming a District of Innovation will allow a school district to gain exemptions from certain rules or laws that currently govern public school in Texas.

Huffman ISD has approved a District of Innovation plan in order to gain more local control in some of the areas listed above.  You may read our detailed plan in the attachment.  If you have questions regarding our District of Innovation plan, please contact Dr. Joel Nolte at jnolte@huffmanisd.net or at 281-324-7633.
