The HIS Plant Freaks decided last year to create community gardens in unused outdoor space on the campus. With the help of parents and staff, they have done just that. It has been a year in the making, and these dedicated students are still as loyal and devoted as ever. They met early this morning (as they do for all their meetings) to weed the gardens and clean the area. Once completed, the Plant Freaks enjoyed the "fruits" of their labor! They got to enjoy the sweet watermelon they had planted at the end of last year. What a great way to celebrate their efforts!
The club members are learning so much more than just gardening...they learn teamwork, responsibility, and the importance of seeing projects through to the end.
Thanks to sponsors Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Fitz-Gerald for their time, and a special thanks to Mr. Dees and Mr. Carpenter for supporting and helping the Plant Freaks with their projects!
