As a student account balance approaches zero, the Child Nutrition staff verbally alerts the student. The most effective way to assure that balances are maintained is to utilize the "My School Bucks" on-line payment program to check balances and set automatic "low balance" text reminders (all at no charge).
For accounts that inadvertently reach a zero balance, the District does provide short term charging to afford time for parents to replenish accounts. Elementary School students may charge up to two (2) breakfasts and two (2) lunches (totaling $7.50). Secondary School students may charge one (1) breakfast and one (1) lunch (totaling $4.00). A la carte items may not be charged on accounts with negative balances.
For students who's balances have not been replenished when these limits are met, the Child Nutrition Department will offer a courtesy meal.
The Child Nutrition Department will attempt to assist parents to replenish accounts by either sending a note home with the student, phone call to parent and/or written correspondence on a weekly basis.
