Device Information

District Issued Devices
All Huffman ISD students have access to either a Dell laptop or an Apple iPad. Secondary students are allowed to take the devices home during their enrollment at Huffman ISD and Elementary devices are stored in the classrooms at the student's campus.

Students in grades 6 through 12 will keep the same device throughout the student's enrollment in Huffman ISD or until issued a replacement device.

For a device to be issued to a student, the district's Acceptable Use Guidelines and Student/Parent Device Handbook must be agreed to during the online registration process. The student is responsible for any fees associated with a lost or damaged device

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
Students in grades 6-12: The district strongly recommends that students use the district-provided device.  For secondary students who chose to forego the district-issued device, they can utilize their own personal computing device as long as it follows the BYOD guidelines.  While we recognize cell phones are often used in the learning environment, they are a supplemental device and should not be the student's primary educational device.
**NOTE: While we fully support BYOD in the instructional setting, in order to comply with state and other organizational requirements for testing, all students are required to take some assessments on district-owned and managed devices.

Optional Device Insurance Coverage
Insurance is available to purchase through School Device Coverage.  Insurance will cover accidental damage, cracked screen, fire/flood, and loss/theft.  The $30.00 one-time fee will cover your device and charger for the entire school year.
