Pre-K Eligibility

Pre-K Eligibility Requirements:
TEA requires a student to be qualified to attend the Pre-K program. Below is a list of requirements.
To be eligible for enrollment in a PK class, a child must be 4 years old on September 1st of the current school year and must meet one of the following requirements:  

(1) Income: Eligible to participate in the National Free and Reduced Lunch Program; SNAP or TANF.
(2) Language: Unable to speak or comprehend English (requires testing).
(3) Military: Child of an active duty or injured/killed Armed Forces member.
(4) Foster Care: Currently or formerly in state care.
(5) Homeless: Fits homeless criteria.
(6) Star of Texas Award: Child of a person awarded the Star of Texas.
